How did you secure your Placement?
I emailed the agency WMP Creative to enquire if they offered work experience and was invited to their Oxford office for a mini interview. Following this meeting I was offered work experience for 2 weeks, which led to a summer Internship with the company.
Overview of the role:
WMP is a creative agency established in 1984. The team works across three offices (UK and Qatar) and five key specialisms – design, digital, events, film, and product design. The agency designs, develops and delivers creative excellence for some of the world’s most recognisable brands.
The team includes graphic designers, product designers, UI designers, developers, film makers, event managers and more. I assisted the Design Team on their projects, creating small elements of the bigger projects. I also re-designed social media posts for their in-house Events Team.

What was the most surprising thing about your experience?
How the graphic design industry works in terms of clients, deadlines and briefs.
What advice would you give to a student in this position?
Take a notebook and write down any information that you are given. It is really beneficial to look back on and remember for future projects. Also reach out and take any opportunity given to you as it really helps to better understand the industry that you are entering into.
