LiveLab – Over the Bloody Moon

Over The Bloody Moon – Menopause Information Charity

Overview:

Title of project: Menopause in the workplace

Target audience: HR Directors, Inclusion & Diversity leads, chairs of Gender  Equality / Menopause Networks

Key Message: Break the silence. Break the bias.’

Spot the signs. Cultivate conversation. Signpost support. Manage menopause.

The charity required a series of mp4 videos that could be used on social media platforms, in staff development and training and included in marketing material and corporate emails.  The films needed to highlight the impact of individual symptoms  that may present themselves more commonly in the work context.

The aim of the project was to break the silence and taboo around menopause in the workplace. To raise  awareness and develop empathy for people experiencing any of the 48 symptoms  associated with menopause. To show how a symptom might impact someone in the  workplace, as if the viewer is experiencing it themselves and to juxtapose this with  the bias this may cause when a colleague is unaware that the behaviour they’re  observing is being caused by menopause.

Ideally, for each film, this was to be shot as a juxtaposition:

1) From the perspective of the person directly experiencing the symptom. To be  inside their head, to feel the scramble, thoughts, and feelings

2) From the perspective of the manager / colleague, ignorant that the behaviour  is being caused by menopause

The tagline ‘Break the silence. Break the bias. Manage menopause.’ needed to be  shown, along with the url: http://www.overthebloodymoon.com

Highlights of the project:

Casting a great actress

Great feedback throughout from the client

Client response to the final product

Feedback from the client:

I couldn’t be more delighted with the videos you and the team have produced for Over The Bloody Moon. Thanks so much for getting them completed on time for some of our key meetings. We’ll be using them in our training and awareness events to various organisations, so a great way of promoting Oxford Brookes’ talent.

Feedback from students:

While our team found working with a professional client to be challenging, it was also a very interesting experience and has definitely enlightened us to the obstacles that arise from working in a real-world environment! All in all, a bit stressful but very gratifying!
